When I was working on the re-design for my website (www.MomSaves.com) I wanted a background that went along with the “saving money” theme.  I drove my web designer crazy by constantly changing my idea of what it should look like.  Finally I found a piggy bank image that I really liked – and with the help of my daughter Kristi  – turned it into the background I wanted.

When I contacted Shera at Sweet and Simple Designs to create a blog design for MomSaves I told her I’d like a fun design – but to please keep the pig as part of it.  She did a great job of switching the background to purple and using the pig in the category headings.  If you look at the logo you will see me (“Mom”) flying by with my shopping cart of bargains on the left and — yep — the pig on the right of the logo.

At first I wasn’t sure about that.  It made sense that I was in the logo – it’s my website.  But why the pig?  Then I realized it represented exactly what I’ve been trying to accomplish with MomSaves since it started in 2003 – helping people “save”.

With her purpose defined, the anonymous pig became part of the MomSaves blog logo.  And because she is very important I decided she needed a name and a position in the MomSaves family.  So Miss Penelope Dollar Pig became our official Director of Marketing for MomSaves.com.  I’m certain she’s the first pig in history to achieve that position.
